Châteauneuf-Val-Saint-Donat is a small village at the foot of the slope south of the Lure mountain, beside the old royal road that led, once, passengers Apt Embrun. The population is scattered in several villages located more or less important at a short distance from the main Chabannes hamlet. These hamlets were, originally, mere sheep (jas) or simple buildings used for the operation of surrounding land have been gradually, because of the importance of population growth and desertion of the old village, now abandoned.
