To the south of Burgundy, Charolles, City of Charles the Bold Duke of Burgundy, is the former capital of the County of Charolais. The city is surrounded by two rivers: the Arconce and Seed, which allows very pleasant walks and gives the town a medieval air.

Many relics of the 15th and 16th centuries remain: Tour of Charles the Bold, Diamond Tower, Room Bailiwick, Convent of Poor Clares, the Priory of Madeleine. Charolles is also known for the craftsmanship of pottery that bears his name. The pottery of Charolles was created in 1844 by Hippolyte Prost, it has never ceased to produce since.

Charolles, sub-prefecture of about 3000 inhabitants, is a city flowered (3 flowers), a village stage and green holiday resort. It is also the birthplace of breeds of cattle and sheep. The Charolais beef is undoubtedly one of the jewels of French cuisine.

• Charolles offers two museums to discover:

• The Municipal Museum of the priory: This museum is located in a former Benedictine priory built in the 10th century. The building is famous for its ceremonial room, and decorated with masks engoulée beam passing through it. It is Cluniac site. It presents a unique collection of earthenware Charolles. Are also paintings by Jean Laronze (1852-1937), painter Burgundy. In the chapel of the priory are presented works of Rene Davoine (1888-1962), Charolais sculptor who exhibited at the Salon of French Artists.
• La Maison du Charolais: a museum space for the whole family. At the heart of the birthplace of the breed Charolais, Charolais House invites you to discover your family or group, this animal and the meat world famous.

• Every year, the last Sunday in June takes place the Day of Painters in the street the morning of amateur painters to the streets and "crunch" the views of the city, they bring their tables in the courtyard of the convent of Poor Clares they are put up for auction. Atmosphere guaranteed!
• August 15 Large flea market with over 150 exhibitors.
