The name of the town dates from the 14th century, Capella Lespinasse we may translate: the chapel near the brush (from the Latin spina, thorn bush).

The church, the remains of a priory in the 10th century witnessed, is a small shrine with a single nave and square pillow, typically Correze. It was built in the 12th century and enlarged by the addition of side chapels. The high vault on intersecting arches date from the late Middle Ages.
