Champlitte-la-Ville is a nearby village (1 km) from the town of Champlitte, but distinct from it. The apparent homonymy of the two localities can be explained as follows: the early settlement was first installed, the Gallo-Roman period (first century AD), in the plain, near water, constituting a "villa" (large farm on the present site of Champlitte-la-Ville).
Much later, around the 10th century, the lords of Fouvent have built a castle on the promontory (center of the current Champlitte), easier to defend. Part of the settlement was then moved slowly around the castle, forming a village castral, called "Champlitte-le-Chateau" to distinguish it from "Champlitte la villa".
Archaeological research conducted on its site link, through the centuries, the activity of the ancient Gallo-Roman to modern technology of today.
Currently, 88 Champlitte-la-Ville account the census of 2009. It is one of six common associated Champlitte.
Economy: If the activity of farmers still keeps great economic importance, the village was born and grow a company become the European leader in coating metals.
