TOWN PRESENTATION

Champeau, whose name has been changed Champeau-en-Morvan in 1992, is a comprehensive joint 3395 ha located in the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan to 550 meters. Until 1911 it was Saint-Léger-de-forks which was common, he was chosen its hamlet 'Champeau' more accessible for people, because less eccentric. The extent of the town has a highly fragmented habitat, it has 29 hamlets and deviations!

The town gives pride to the growing Christmas tree, fir forests are numerous and spruce is replaced by Nordman, which is a Christmas tree popular for holding its needles.

This town is geared mainly to cattle, and herds of Charolais cattle in the white dress providing high quality meat.

SIGHTSEEING

St. Leger had a Romanesque church, but the building is in poor condition, a church was built in the 19th century, it is under the patronage of Holy Light.

Champeau has a chapel near the cemetery, one dating from 1911, an adjoining barn was converted in 1913 into a chapel and burial place of worship.

Wood, stone and water are the components of this vast county, and walks to discover the fauna and flora, but also an authentic landscape are accessible to all.

A portion of Lake Chamboux, near Saint-Léger-de-Forks is on the Common Champeau, before the impoundment of the lake was there the pond and the mill Guijon.

Besides fishing lake Chamboux, it is possible to fly fish in the pond whip 'Neptune' in the hamlet of Meix Billeau a very pleasant place that combines beauty, charm and fullness.
