The town of Champagnac is at 620 meters altitude on the plateau Champagnaguès, North West Cantal (near Saignes and Ydes). It overlooks the gorge of the Dordogne, it is bordered by the Correze (16 km Neuvic). It is also located 12 km from Bort-les-Organs, 22 km from Mauriac, Aurillac 80 km and 90 km from Clermont-Ferrand.
Headquarters of a major coal deposit in the last century, the old mining town has found a life of conversion in the tourism and hospitality: Mining Museum, hiking trails, farm visits, manufacture and sale blue farmer and Volume fresh fish in the gorges of the Dordogne and surrounding dams.
The Church of St. Martin in the 12th century is an example of Romanesque Auvergne, his turn and his head is classified as an historic monument.
The Mining Museum (June 15 to September 15) recounts nearly a century of mining.
