Chambost-Longessaigne found under the names Chamboscus, Chambostus, Chambosc was before the Revolution parish and barony in the Beaujolais. The village's name is mentioned in the earliest records of departmental archives.

Over time, the country was successively subjected to the domination of the Earl of Forez then Hugh Mauvoisin (1621).

• The Church:

• The church is neo-Gothic. Early work dates back to 1846. Built on the site of the former became too small, its construction has encountered many problems including financial, which explains that the tower has been achieved in 1860 (the stones are different from those walls ) while the church was opened for worship in 1849. Dedicated to Saint Maurice, it was restored in 1994 and 1995.

• Castle:

The cross of mortar, stone golden date from 1684 and coquille St. Jacques beneath the figures indicate a crossing point for pilgrims of Saint Jacques de Compostela.
