American Indians whose chief was Cépérou have seen it happen one day in the year 1643 Sieur de Bretigny on the coasts cayennaises to signify the beginning of colonization of this land hitherto independent. Located on the South American continent, between Brazil and Suriname; since Guyana became a colony, then a French department overseas. For some years now, Cayenne is called "Cayenne, Capital City of the Amazon French".
