Located just off the A7 motorway "Avignon Sud", Caumont-sur-Durance is the first village in the Luberon and nearby Avignon.
The Charterhouse of Bonpas dominates the ford on the Durance, true strategic roads crossing North South East West and the former using public via domitia.
You can browse the history of Caumont since the earliest times by visiting the Roman garden and pond, unique archaeological jewel in France.
In the immediate vicinity you can also visit the listed site of the Saint Symphorien Romanesque of great architectural purity.
The heart of the village surrounded by ramparts you insight into the life of Provence with its narrow streets, its doors, its church and its chapels, all in a landscape of hills and olive groves.
