Overlooking Menton 365 meters, this viewpoint asserts ten thousand years of history!

In 1955, excavations show the presence of humans in the Neolithic. But the first quote Castellar document dated January 19, 1258, is the assignment of the county of Ventimiglia to the County of Provence.

In 1345, the village was moved to Hill St. Sebastian. From 1388, the "retraction" makes the common Savoy for five centuries. The village is up to Lascaris all this time.

In 1814, Castellar is returned to the kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia to the annexation of 1860.

In 1893 is created the "Caisse de Crédit Agricole cooperative" behind the "Credit Agricole" in the Alpes-Maritimes.

In 1944, the First Special Service Force releases the village, which has resisted the Italian occupation so far.
