A 21 km west of Decazeville on the left bank of the Lot.

At the border between the departments of Aveyron and the Lot, the present town owes its existence to the development of rail transport in the late 19th century. The new station was built on the site of the hamlet of Tinsou at that time town of Saint-Julien-d'Empare.

On 16 May 1891 creating the municipality of Capdenac-Gare.

In 1902, transferring the county town of Asprières to Capdenac-Gare.

Around its first industry born from the station, Capdenac-Gare converts to small industrial city: the food industry, slaughterhouses, cold meats, canned goods, public works, machine tools in Saint-Julien-d'Empare.

The growth of the city will continue until 1968 when then count Capdenac-Gare 6113 inhabitants.
