Located halfway between the ocean and the Pyrenees, Cambo-les-Bains is a holiday destination chosen to radiate in the Basque Country. At once elegant and picturesque Basque village city water to the refined charm, it is marked by the passage of the poet Edmond Rostand who lived in his superb villa Arnaga, now classified as historical monuments and museums of France.
The city is composed of four very different neighborhoods:
- Panoramic view over the valley of the Nive and the mountains.
- Street trading.
- Church dating from the 17th century and is one of the most typical of the region, with its high altar, its baroque altarpiece and finally superimposed galleries of carved wood. All around, we discover the stelae discoidal typical funerary art basque.
- The Museum of Edmond Rostand: Arnaga. This masterpiece of neo-basque was built in 1903. Edmond Rostand, author of Cyrano de Bergerac, planted in a green house of his dreams. The walker discovers a Versailles garden with flower beds, pergolas and ponds, through rows of hydrangeas and a wooded park. Inside the Villa, a collection of original objects and works of art evokes the famous writer and his family in a luxurious setting. Plot majestically facing the hills blue, the French garden unfolds at the foot of the house as a stage set, combining three elements: mineral, vegetable and water. The English garden offers a range of scents, colors and forms that awaken the senses of visitors. Site classified "historic monument" and "Museum of France". The gardens have received the label "Remarkable Garden". The villa is open in March on Saturdays and Sundays from 14h30 to 18h. Daily: April to September from 10am to 12.30pm and from 14h30 to 19h. In July and August, continuing day from 10h to 19h. In October, from 14h30 to 19h. Groups welcome all year by reservation.
- Lower Cambo picturesque old houses with red blood, its laundry, its Roman bridge.
- The Hill of the fold: on the road leading to the hill, you can find icons for the chapel, built from 1960 by priests in treatment Cambo. Inaugurated in 1964, its interior decoration began 10 years later by Albert Proux, painter from Saint-Pee-sur-Nivelle. At the top of the hill, panoramic views and picnic area.
- The Area Spas: the 15-acre park of the spa, beautifully ornate, is lush and exotic. Its exotic atmosphere is due to the presence of 200 palms. The baths have retained their cachet Art Deco 1930s while offering today the latest innovations in care techniques. The spa has the dual display: rheumatology and respiratory tract and also offers numerous options for the well-being and fitness. Cambo-les-Bains is a step of connecting GR8 Urt in Sare whose topographical guide is available at the Tourist Office.
