Brûlon, share their heights (peaks over 100 m above sea level) has always been a site sought since antiquity.

Brûlon is the cradle of modern communication. Indeed, in 1763, Claude Chappe, inventor of the telegraph is air born in the town. March 02, 1791, he performed with the help of his brothers, the first test transmissions between Brûlon and Parks-sur-Sarthe. After this initial success, more than 5000 km of telegraph lines to be installed on French territory in the 19th century.
