Briant, the small Swiss Brionnais, is a small village in lush green valleys and south of Burgundy. His endorsement village invites us to dream as he looks like a medieval village. Water is at its feet, the yellow stone church overlooking the valley Belain with its Romanesque bell tower, square, era Cluny. Look closely, you'll see a face can be medieval! Beautiful homes, may be the same time, and almost circled around an old stone wall former. Several steep trails radiate from the village.

This village of the 13th century was the chief town of Pagus Briennensis by Mario Rossi, Ph.D. state in 1974 (Phonology and Dialectology). Name derived from the Gaulish word "thief" which means a hill. Briant was founded by a Gallic tribe of the Brigantes, which literally means people living in hills and figuratively Nobles.

You'll gladly walk along marked trails. You'll discover rare birds that are black woodpecker, hoopoe, turtle doves, but you may be hearing more. You will recognize his "tou tou" the toad, or the Desert. More rarely in late winter may be the fox and deer. You will discover the grass to eat and those to watch with the botanist Gerard Ducerf. And if you feel like you can fish to the water and play your kids at the playground. If you have bikes, you can climb the "bull of the coast" through the village and continue towards St. Kitts. At 1.5 km you will find a snail farm. Here you can learn everything from the snail Briant: they have indeed two horns like a snail shell of Burgundy, but they are slightly smaller, so good on your plate.

A bike with a donkey, by car you can visit the Romanesque churches of the Cluniac Brionnais. You can discover the origin of Charolais beef and visit the market on the clock of Saint-Christophe. You can imagine the first convent of women Marcigny and admire the Romanesque basilica of Paray-le-Monial. But most discover, at the bend of a road, a beautiful chapel, one of the many castles.
