TOWN PRESENTATION
  • Location:
  • 40 km south of Paris, Breuillet lies at the confluence of three rivers: the Barley, the Rémarde and Vixen, and has several lakes including the South Port. The town is located 7 km from the Parc Naturel Régional du Gâtinais on the board of Hurepoix.
  • Three major traffic arteries are close to the territory: the RN 20, N 104 (Francilienne) and the A10.
  • Regarding transport, Breuillet is served by two railway stations of the RER line C: Station Breuillet Village Station Breuillet Bruyères.
  • Breuillet is a town green living vine, mills and clay. Its territory is now divided between urbanized areas, natural green spaces and farmland. The town is crossed by three rivers, barley and two of its tributaries, the Vixen and Rémarde and by a network of small rivers secondary, Boëlle. Moreover, numerous lakes and ponds have been dug. Include, among others, the Port of South Lake or one of Colombier.
  • Valley of history ...
  • The etymology of the name of the town means a breuil, that is to say a paddock for grazing cattle.
  • After Braïoletum (1275), Braïolo, Brolium, Brayola (twelfth century), Brandoli (1242) and before Broullet (1386), Brouillet (1491), Broillet (1574) and finally Breuillet (1666), the name was Brollet ( 1330) at the time of Louis XI.
  • Brollet then had 93 "census", which freed peasants had to pay an annual tax to the Lord the "hundred" as the price of their freedom. In addition to these people, the serfs lived together in the rustic house of the Lord where they worked in the common interest. This house was the setting of the church. Jean de Lavoiser and Denise his wife lived there and received various charges - excluding the census - in the name of the Lord John Mallet, Sir Graville.
  • We find Breuillet the turbulent times of the French Revolution: former provost of the castle of the Louvre, joined to the Barony of Saint-Yon, the land of Breuillet was given to the Hotel-Dieu de Paris, then acquired by William of Lamoignon Baville Lord, first President of Parliament of Paris. Breuillet then living of its vines, its mills and its clay. In 1899, the brickyard Folleville worked since the 15th century and spinning Guilbert already manufactured twine used in grocery stores.
  • ... And the future:
  • Agricultural activity has significantly reduced since only one operation is still active on the territory of the commune. The mills still exist, but are no longer active. Breuillet the mill near the station "Breuillet Village" came to the heritage of the town and the surrounding park. He welcomes the cultural center since 2009 and voluntary Moulin des Muses. The library, the Conservatory and associations will also find new premises, larger and better adapted to their activities. This rehabilitation added to the processing center and transfer of City Hall at Castle Chapter improves a little more service and quality of life Breuilletois.
  • For a little over thirty years the population has evolved Breuillet. Neighborhoods and new subdivisions created in several sites have come from families whose roots may be elsewhere but which quickly become "full Breuilletois" concerned about their environment and a vibrant place that wants to keep his side "village".
  • Meaning of heraldry:
  • The etymology of the name Breuillet is recalled by the border that follows the edge of the shield. The latter is notched in memory of the clay, the raw material of bricks and tiles that was in the past, a lot of activity on the town. The grapes also recalls that Breuillet was a great vineyard and iron-to-mill, the three rivers, symbolized by the wavy bands, have fueled many mills. The patch bearing a bell means Breuillet was attached to Saint-Yon, who has four bells on his own coat of arms. The bell means land of the Church.
  • The blue and reds, blue and red are the colors of the city of Paris which Breuillet has always been bound by the men who made that mark its history and its commitment to the Ile-de-France.
