To the west of the department of Gard, at the foot of the Aigoual, an hour from Nimes, Montpellier, Ales, Millau, Florac ... and 5 km from Vigan, here the common Bréau-et-Salagosse with Bréau village built on a hill, while Salagosse Serres and the larger hamlets were built in the valley. The total population is 400 people. The town stretches from South to North, from 267 m to 1373 m altitude on 2500 hectares, including some in the central zone of the Cevennes National Park, inside the biosphere reserve. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate and sunshine of the south. Olive and chestnut trees on the south slate floors, beech and conifer in the massive granite north. A river "The Souls" crosses the town in its length.
