Braux is located in the Auxois, in the canton of Precy-sous-Thil. The village is built at the foot of the sunny slopes on which the vines were once dominant. Some growers, or former owners of vineyards, still perpetuate the tradition every year on St. Vincent.

The Canal de Bourgogne (Yonne side) through the town about 4 km. Two locks are built on the town: Locks No. 14 and No. 15. Armançon The river made a slight excursion to a place called Mill Braux.

Braux includes a hamlet: The Intersecting, tray on which a Gallo-Roman (originally 40 BC) was excavated from 1985 to 1996 have uncovered a major seaside columns.

The present church, built from 1865 to 1867, stands on the site of an ancient Romanesque church from the 11th and 12th centuries.

The inhabitants are called Braux Braules and Braulées (once they were given the nickname "the folâtrou").
