Bouzigues with around 1500 inhabitants is the smallest common Thau. 5 km and 16 km from Mèze Sète, this village has the typical Mediterranean waterfront of the Thau lagoon. This is the common lagoon derives its major economic resources even as today, much of the population lives mainly shellfish (oysters and farmed mussels).
The architecture, narrow streets, many fishermen's houses, the walk that borders the pond, small natural beaches and fishing ports and marinas, all recalls the atmosphere of a fishing village.
Today, tourism plays an increasingly important role in the life of the town. Twenty or eating establishment are installed along the Promenade des Beauce, facing the pond and offer visitors to enjoy oysters, mussels and other shellfish from the lagoon.
SIGHTSEEING
After a snack break, visitors can stroll along the pond or in the streets fresh from the heart of the village and go to the Musée de l'Etang de Thau, where they will discover through staging objects, the profession of "sea farmers" in other words, fishermen and oyster farmers in the pond.
