The church: In the 12th century, a new church was built. This is now dedicated to St. Simeon Stylites. A jewel of Romanesque art, his sculptures are of great beauty. Combining biblical scenes and struggles between good and evil, they were carved by the same workshop as that of the Sauve-Majeure. Pey Berland strengthens the church. During the Hundred Years War, the village was relatively spared. If the population suffered from the great plague of 1348, as elsewhere, its proximity to Bordeaux protected him from military operations. However, the problems were so great and dangers so ubiquitous that Pey Berland, the future archbishop of Bordeaux, named pastor of Bouliac in 1413 decided to fortify the village church so that it can serve as a refuge in case of emergency . Traces of this work still perceive particular through loopholes still visible.
