In a green, Boucieu-le-Roi, "Village Character", is located in the heart of the Valley Sweet (alt. 314 m), 20 km from Tournon-sur-Rhone and the A7 motorway. This medieval village was created in 1291 by Philip the Fair, King of France, into the Royal Court of Justice of any High-Vivarais. Boucieu knew at that time a growing population and commercial importance.

In 1712, a missionary priest, Pierre Vigne, settled there. It charts a path, the "Grand Voyage" on which he built the 39 Stations of the Cross. He also founded the Congregation of Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, which are still present today.
