• Geography:

• Bonnétable is located in the Sarthe, about twenty miles north of Le Mans.
• The town belongs to the Community of Communes Maine 301.

• History:

• Located on a swamp, the city established from the 11th century was called Malester (from the Latin "malum stabulum" ill prepared).
• In the 13th century, the town changed its name to Bonnétable. Legend has it that two lords visiting the city there have been so well received that they have asked the king of France to change the name of the city Bonnestable (good food)!
• The development of the city will come mostly in the 19th with the arrival of the railroad.
• The village of Aulaines, birthplace of Catherine Farmer, a famous writer, will report to the City of Bonnétable in 1965.

• The church of Saint Sulpice: Inside you can admire the magnificent stained glass made by Fialeix, a renowned master glass artist of the nineteenth. In the windows of the choir, one can see various stages of the life of St. Sulpice.
• The old castle park: Belonging to the town, the park is a pleasant place to stroll and relax. It is bordered by the river Tripoulain.
• The statue of Melusine: Located on the Market Square, the Statue of Melusine (protector of the city) adorns the city since 2001.
• The hall: Built in 1856, we still see the campanile (bell tower isolated).
• Station Bonnétable: Closed in 1977, the line Mamers - Saint-Calais saw today with a passion for the heritage railway. Aboard the Transvap, relive the epic of the railroad between Bonnétable and Beillé. 18 kilometers, you will be soothed by steam trains or railcars.
• The kitchen garden: lovers of nature or merely curious can wander the aisles allowing themselves away by a thousand colors and scents. Heritage lovers will, in turn, discover magnificent stables and greenhouses, and a splendid classified Bollée wind in the garden.
• Former Village Aulaines.
• Church: Listed as a historic monument, it was erected in the twelfth, 13th and 15th centuries. Inside, one can see a headstone in the 18th century classified monument.
• The school house where the writer Catherine Farmer: In class you will discover the charm of old classes with furniture, blackboards, wood stove and, of course, the smell of ink and chalk! In another room, you will discover the fascinating life of the writer Catherine Farmer. 18 showcases have the literary career of this extraordinary author.
