The original Viking: Bois-Héroult (Boscum Herold) takes its name from a lord named Herold or Harold, original Viking.
The ancient texts mention the existence of "ancient and of great antiquity" of a feudal fortress Norman, in a remarkable strategic location. In the woods overlooking the intersection of Head-of-river where the source of the Héronchelle, we still see the remains.
Research has identified traces of buttresses (it has been visible, with cobblestones, the location of this research).
The present castle was built by Jacques Saint Alphonsus Civille Mards on land made dowry by Miss Bonissent of Buchy, his wife, after razing the old castle. It was built from a single jet from 1715 to 1721, brick and stone, with a high roof as we did under Louis XIII. We do not know the architect, but an artisan signed "Delalande-1721" on a brick to the right of the double staircase.
The Route Hunt-tides ": In ancient times, Bois-Héroult has always been like a lock on a node of communication. The road from Dieppe to Gournay was passing around the current park. It was the road of "Hunting-tides", 160 km in a straight line, deviating very little from the flight of a bird, to engage in a night of fresh fish at Les Halles in Paris.
Moreover, the road from Amiens to Rouen, an old Roman road that we follow up Forges, passed in the immediate vicinity of the castle, which are still visible on the plot after the park. It was "the salt road" which required surveillance, "the salt tax" remaining from the 14th century, a highly unwelcome tax.
