Blou is one of the oldest inhabited villages of Anjou. Its elevated position, surrounded by a rich country on the edge of a valley flooded regularly, had to make a natural refuge from the earliest ages. At the point called "The Grippeau" is Roman amphorae found in abundance.

The town is dominated by a ridge of 109 meters, the highest point of the region, where one can admire a magnificent panorama, and in good weather, the arrows of the cathedral of Angers.

Its Romanesque church dedicated to Our Lady, is a historical monument.

"The Citadel", "The Tower of the Rooster," "The Temple", "The Cathedral" are names of farms that remind of the Middle Ages. Blou was then one of the four baronies of Anjou.

The town is part of Blou NRP (Anjou-Touraine Regional Natural Park).

• Visit of Notre-Dame (church and home in Anjou):

• Open from Easter to Halloween every day, coming through the door on the side, otherwise keys available at the cafe or the Renaissance Madame Nouvellet opposite the town hall.
• On the outside, admire the belfry pierced on each side of two 13th century mullioned windows separated by a central cluster of four angles. The roof height differences reflect the different internal volumes.
• Inside, discover the windows due to the workshop of Tours Fournier and Clements (1878) representing the iconography of the saints (St. Joan of Arc, the Virgin and Child, St. John ...). Above the main door, the Tree of Jesse, very common in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, symbolic representation of the genealogy of Christ. Admire the butt Eucharist (above the main altar) in gilded wood. It dates from the 18th century and was used to suspend the reservation of the Eucharist.
