The village, according to its topography and location of implantation, is probably an ancient feudal town.
It was the seat of a lordship which dates from the earliest ages of feudalism and which fell within the silver.

In the 17th century, perhaps under the Godfrey, is based on enjoining the Hospital of Ash. The Templars will establish a Preceptory, before being replaced by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, which remain there until the revolution.
In 1780, fire destroyed almost the entire village.
A century later, it has experienced an initial economic boom thanks to the digging of the canal Sauldre.
In 1972, a major food industry settles.
In 1998, the town became the first geographical center of the eurozone.

- The church of Saint-Etienne with its bell tower of the 16th shingled.

- The channel of Sauldre: Blancafort is the starting point of the channel Sauldre.

- Today, this channel is an important tourism asset, waterway of 47 km through the Sologne.
