• Berviller is located 8.5 km southeast of Bouzonville up against the border of the Saar. The communal ban is limited to the north by the municipality and the municipality of Villing German Ittersdorf to the west by the municipality of Rémering, south by the municipality of Merten and east by the municipality German Berus.
• The village is nestled in a small valley opening to the West and crossed from east to west by the "Weissbach," stream that joins the outlet of the valley to the "Dorrbach" before continuing its course south as the "Berweillerbach". The heart of the village stretches along the "Weissbach" between 260 and 280 meters.
• Despite a relative lack of written records, there are data on the population of Berviller since the early 17th century.

• 1600: 50 people.
• Research from the archives of Nancy by Elisabeth Deynet, Saarlouis, mention that Berweiler "auf dem Kies" (Berviller on gravel) one of the thirty municipalities depending on the lordship of Bérus, nine "Feuerstelle" (homes ), which corresponds, according to experts in the field, about fifty people.
• 1650: zero capita. It is said in the archives of the Lord: "ist niemand mehr in Berweiler" (to Berviller there is no one). The war, known as the Thirty Years just wash over the region. Between Rosselle and Nied, no town is immune. Iron, fire, plague eliminate almost all of the population. This time was long recorded in the apocalyptic background of the collective unconscious as the "Schwedenkrieg" (Swedish War).
• 1700: 95 people. Few who escaped the massacres. There are, however. They managed to flee and take refuge in a fortified city. François Schneider Rémering, a passionate lover of archives, reports back to the village in 1665 of four men: Hans Altmayer, Johanne and Claude Gruen, Georgs Leyne. To repopulate the area, the Duke of Lorraine uses immigration. A genealogist, so great it is, is struggling to cross the yawning gap left by the Thirty Years War. Some sleuths have succeeded, however, with patience and tenacity to find the strain of their ancestors. Some would come from the Tyrol, Austria, the Dauphine, or of Biscay ...
• 1750: 390 inhabitants. This population growth is due: infant mortality decreased through better competence of birth attendants (midwives). A novel food obtained by Parmentier, its pedigree: the potato. The new vegetable will become a significant base of the daily menu. For two centuries, the Queen "potato" will reign in the kitchen Lorraine. The dinner will consist almost exclusively of roasted potatoes sprinkled with fresh milk from.
• 1850: 600. The census of 1843 states: Berweiler, district of Thionville, 633 inhabitants. This jump is due to several factors: the purpose of the Napoleonic wars, better yields, medical advances, large number of customs officers domiciled in the village.
• 1900: 400. A decline began: fewer births, emigration to Paris or America.
• 1920: 300. Free fall, largely due to the consequences of the 1914-1918 war.
• 1950: 350 inhabitants ...
• 1960: 400.
• 1990: 480.
• From 1950, a steady climb begins. It is explained by the extension of the village: many new buildings and creating a subdivision.
