Beauvoir is a small village of about 350 inhabitants, with rolling terrain and very pleasantly wooded, located on the edge of Puisaye.

It is crossed by a stream which once fed up to five mills which are still visible.

Until the Revolution, Beauvoir, also called Beauvoir the Strong, was the property of the Chapter of the Cathedral of Auxerre.

A church dedicated to St. Bartholomew was built in the 13th century.

Located at a place called The Fort, it was in the 16th century, included in a complex of buildings incorporated in the enclosure surrounded by a moat and with a drawbridge.

In the 18th century, under Louis XV at the administrative reorganization, Beauvoir was chosen as the seat of Justice for seven municipalities in the Valley Tholon: Pourrain, Parly, Merry-la-Vallee, Egleny, Saint-Martin-sur-Ocre Lindry and of course Beauvoir.

The Cathedral Chapter had then to build an audience of justice and prisons. This audience will run until 1790.

The Church of St. Bartholomew, the thirteenth, 15th and 16th centuries, has an altarpiece of the 18th ranked. Recently restored, it is situated in a pleasant environment.
