Beaupréau is a small city of more than 7000 inhabitants (INSEE January 2007), ranked 13th in the department of Maine-et-Loire. Its inhabitants are Bellopratains and Belloprataines.
Located midway between Angers and Nantes (45 minutes), 15 minutes of Cholet, it occupies a central place in the heart of the country Mauges. It is the largest of the eleven municipalities of the Community of Communes Centre Mauges which are, in alphabetical order: Andrezé: 1856 inhabitants - Beaupreau: 7005 inhabitants - Bégrolles en Mauges: 1770 inhabitants - Gesté: 2541 inhabitants - Jallais: 3298 inhabitants - The chapel-of-Genet: 1250 inhabitants - The Jubaudière: 1200 inhabitants - The Poitevinière: 1000 inhabitants - Le Pin-en-Mauges: 1286 inhabitants - Saint-Philbert-en-Mauges: 364 inhabitants - Villedieu-la-Blouère : 2303 inhabitants. At the last census of 2007, the Community of Communes Centre Mauges comprised 23 926 inhabitants.
Beaupréau is the seat of many authorities, unions, associations or services whose jurisdiction extends to all Mauges, and beyond: the Union of Country Meeting of Mauges - the Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives ( EIPC) Loire Mauges - the Regional Committee for Agricultural Development Mauges - Agricultural Management Center of Maine-et-Loire - the District Social Welfare - Association for the Integration of Mauges impaired children of school age (AMIEDS) - the Syndicat Intercommunal garbage collection (SIRDOMDI) - Office of Tourism Beaupréau Mauges Centre - Mission Grove - Country Scenes.
The Old Town: A step back in time through his characters ... Let us tell you the history of this city by strolling through the picturesque streets of the old Beaupréau. You will admire its ancient buildings whose occupants had a leading role in local history. Let yourself be surprised by his views. You will also discover the racecourse and training track racehorses.
The Notre Dame: The Notre Dame was built in the 19th century in a neo-Gothic style by architect Alfred Tessier. Its 4 elevations, worthy of cathedrals are adorned with beautiful stained glass. The park: Accessible by the castle moat, the park of 32 ha is a great place for family outings to the river Evre. You will walk through its many alleys and admire the flora of an extreme variety: wild hyacinth and cyclamen in spring in the driveway of the king in the fall.
The Tour Mauges: in May, the Tour of Mauges cyclist thrilled lovers of Little Queen. For two days, a bunch of 140 riders made the best amateur riders evolving national traveling the winding roads and coastlines Mauges to glean the trophies distributed by Beaupréau Cycling Sport club organizing this beautiful event.
Market passions: the last Sunday of July, on the market square in the old town and the castle moat, amateurs and professionals know how they tell their side of the garage sale.
Fair early Angevin: the first Monday in September following the weekend of racing at the racecourse Beaupréau.
Auto-Moto-Passion: In mid-September, the streets of St. Martin de Beaupréau echoing roar of the engines of racing cars racing cars that compete for the slalom Motors Passion competition dedicated to motorsports.
