Located at the crossroads of regions Limousin, Quercy, Périgord and Auvergne, Pays de Beaulieu offers a wide range of landscapes and activities. Rich in history and architecture, you will discover many Romanesque churches, a leading vernacular, and the presence of humans in the area since 50 000 years of Neanderthal Museum. Unspoilt nature and authenticity of the rural heritage of the Pays de Beaulieu are a place to live, at their own pace, calmly and intently.
Born of a medieval fishing village in the year 855, Beaulieu offers visitors the abbey church of Saint-Pierre, a masterpiece of Romanesque art known for its eardrum and its rich treasury (the Virgin and Child 12th century, enamel reliquary of the 13th century), its narrow streets and timbered houses. On the Waterfront, the chapel of the Penitents is reflected in the Dordogne. A few kilometers away, stands the castle of yew Estresses and millennia.
