In 1974, Bavent (984 inhabitants in 1968) merged with Robehomme (122 inhabitants in 1954), which keeps the status of a common associate.
Bavent:
Bavent 1059, Batvent 1066. The shape of 1059 casts doubt on the explanation of Charles Albert Dauzat and Rostaing "bat Wind" where the wind beats. It is rather a folk etymology. We can suggest a name Celtic-ent-,-Latinized entu (m) which is also found in Douvrend (Dovrent 12th century) preceded by an unknown in the absence of older form. The same suffix has been identified in Nogent (Novientum on novio, new) and Drever (Derventum on dervo, oak, cf. Breton dervishes, oak). Homophony with Bavans (Ravenna 11th century, man's name and suffix Germanic Germanic Bavo (Burgundian)-INGOs).
Robehomme:
Raimbert Hulmus 1083, 1190 Robbehomme, man's name followed by the Scandinavian Germanic Raimbert holmr, island, meadow at the edge of the water. We find the name of a person associated with a call Norse topt in Raimbertot to Cauville-sur-Mer (Seine-Maritime).
Église Saint-Hilaire (XII, much altered in the 19th century).
Church Robehomme (nineteenth and twentieth centuries).
Castle Bénéauville (late sixteenth), classified as an historic monument, and park.
Castle Bavent (seventeenth century), listed historical monument.
Manor Venoix (sixteenth century).
Flag of Pottery (1842).
