At the foot of the hill sunny Barbentane cultivates his lifestyle.

The town invites you to linger inside the plain vegetable and fruit shaped by man, Roubini and walking between rows of cypress.


SIGHTSEEING
  • Castle:
  • 17th century castle. Residence of the Marquis de Barbentane since 1674, the "Petit Trianon of the Sun" has a unique design of the 18th century and a collection of period furniture. The castle is surrounded by Italianate terraces decorated with carved designs, overlooking a park planted with plane trees three hundred years old. This house, considered the "most Italian castles of Provence", has survived without damage the revolutionary period. It is still inhabited by the Marquis de Barbentane.

  • From Easter to All Saints: Open daily except Wednesday from 10am to 12pm and 14pm to 18pm. From July 1 to September 30 open 7 days 7. For groups by appointment.
  • Guided tours offered by the Tourist Office:
  • The Tourist Office offers tours of the village to be guided through the streets, hear the story of the village and leave telling anecdotes. The tour lasts about 1:30. This period may be increased or decreased as per your request.
  • Only for groups of 10 people.

  • The house of the Knights: Old 12th century manor house with 16th century additions, like its neighbor the church, it is classified a historical monument since 1929.
  • Anglica Tower: Built in 1365 by Cardinal Grimoard, brother of Pope Urban V, with a height of 28 meters and 10 meters on each side ending in a long tower, is the great witness of medieval times. Historic Monument since 1925, it was sung by Frédéric Mistral in Iscles d'Or.
  • The Romanesque church: In the heart of the city, this church, extended successively to fourteenth, fifteenth, sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, has a porch-like mantle, historical monument as well as the bell tower.
  • The mill Bretoule: Built just before the French Revolution, the mill of Bretoule, whose wings were arrested in 1845, is located not far from the tower Anglica, set in the pines.
  • The door of Séquier: Exit south walls of the Middle Ages. Séquier, the Provençal "seca" means dry. The farmers were drying their harvest of vegetables for winter supplies in the streets of Séquier.
  • The door Calendrale: Built in the early Middle Ages (1302), it controls the entrance north of the ramparts.
  • The City Hall: It is a monument of the 17th century called Hotel des Barons de Chabert. It is the seat of the City Council since 1888. It has a clock and a bell of 250 pounds that can be heard throughout the campaign.

  • From March to October, Camargue races held regularly in the arena.
