By 1060, the Lord of Heugleville offers some land to his son Gilbert. The new lord built a fortress on a hill crowned with beech top who gave their name to the resort: Alta Fagus.
Gilbert Heugleville fought alongside companions of William the Conqueror at Hastings. On his return to England he did much to the prosperity of Auffay.

SIGHTSEEING
The Collegiate Church:
11th to 17th - 18th century.
Called college because it is first served from 1060 by a panel of six canons. Gilbert, Lord of Auffay becomes the instigator of this foundation.
The church was burned in 1742 by soldiers of Charles the Bold.
Thanks to the generosity of King Henry IV, the great west door of sandstone was rebuilt around 1600.
In June 1940, the bombing severely damaging the building that will find its cultural entirely in 1967.
The Jacquemart:
Called Houzou Benard and Sivière Package.
According to legend, the day of procession of the Blessed Sacrament, two Huguenots, a Dieppe and shamefully Altifagien the Catholic faith and were ordered to pay the college's clock and strike the hours and offices. After the bombings of World War II, the castle was completely restored.
