The name of the small village of Arcangues, located a few miles from Biarritz, is known worldwide. Each year, visitors stop there and linger there. Yet during this century that this small town has become what it is today. In fact, under the leadership of the family Arcangues, and poet and novelist of talent that was the Marquis Pierre Arcangues of this pleasant and picturesque village has become a tourist attractions of the Basque Coast. Conceived and directed by the Marquis, throughout his life, this elegant and unusual set is completely restored with old materials. In the "theater of nature" behind the school, the artist Ramiro Arrue who filed his touch and made the frescoes that adorn it. Luis Mariano (1914-1970) came to settle Arcangues in 1961 and was one of the most illustrious citizens of the town. By visiting the cemetery, the amateur will choose the most beautiful and complete collection of steles discoidal represented therein. These tombstones resume many traditional symbols (crosses, grounds solar plant?) In Basque Country and are in themselves a precious witness of history. • It was around the church dating from the early 13th and with one of the most sumptuous galleries carved the Basque Country that fit together elements of what might be called "ideal village basque. The stone front facing the terrace of a very typical hostel, surrounded by towering shale tables. Every wall, every corner were composed by the greatest care of Arcangues Pierre Marquis. Unearthed throughout the country, these stones and sculptures several centuries old are naturally integrated and seem to be there for their origin. Ironwork, small fountains, benches égaillent here, moreover, beautifully flowered in the spring. His "theater of nature" is a hall unique.
