Antoingt is located in the heart of the plain of the stream of Lembron Lembronnet beside which the town of Antoingt and the hamlet of Mazerat have developed.
The name could derive from the surname Antoingt Gallo-Roman "Antonius".
Antoingt is one of the oldest parishes in the region.
The castle or Pantier Montpentier: fortified house of the late Middle Ages (fourteenth-fifteenth centuries).
The Church of St. Gal: Romanesque origin. Its uniqueness is certainly outside its octagonal bell tower topped by an arrow pierced polychrome tiles.
Near the church, one guesses building density, and the curve of the main street, this area of the village was once fortified. Today a walk through the village is needed to better assess the quality of its rural architecture (wine growers' houses to outdoor steps, pigeon, etc.).
Customs: to the left of the church are the benches of the "rent", where the workers came to be placed for field work.
