Angoulême The city is built on a rocky promontory overlooking the 80-meter valley of the Charente river which describes a large meander.

Occupied since prehistoric times, the city was walled at the end of the Lower Roman Empire. Capital County of Taillefer, Lusignan and Valois, instead of endless conflict during the wars of religion, an important river port until the 19th century capital of the Comic Strip today, the city has many relics of the past as interesting modern amenities.
