The poet Lamartine to Savarière ...

In 1848, Lamartine threw himself into the political activist, he was even a member of the provisional government, delivering speeches in front of the workers' demonstrations. In 1851 he was candidate for President of the Republic against Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. He obtained 18,000 votes against more than 3 million in future Napoleon III. He became suspicious and had to leave Paris. He came for the rest staying with friends in the provinces and particularly in the Roch Savarière Aigrefeuille to where he was warmly welcomed. Lamartine was able to compose, walking through the property, his poem "Autumn".
