Peaceful and charming, the fishing village of Tartane lies on the magnificent Caravelle peninsula, 6 kilometres from the town of La Trinité and part of its administrative area. Once devoted to sugar cane production and cattle farming, this village's main livelihood is now fishing, along with tourism. Indeed, the beautiful Tartane Bay, dotted with colourful boats, appeals to many visitors in search of an authentic and tranquil spot. For lovers of exotic cuisine, it's also a chance to enjoy some delicious food at one of many restaurants serving Creole specialities…
Tartane also has some beautiful sandy beaches, such as those at La Brèche or Pond Cove (Anse L'Étang). The latter is ideal for swimming and relaxing, with its coconut trees, golden sand and turquoise water. Bonneville Cove on the other hand is especially popular with surfers.
Keen walkers will find plenty to enjoy along the wonderful marked paths in the Caravelle nature reserve, which isn't far away!
