The medieval town of Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur, the historical capital of the Champsaur valley and a stop on the Napoleon Road is situated at an altitude of 1,025 metres and boasts many traces of its past, including the charming square Place Grenette with its covered market and well, its narrow streets and old houses.

Not to missed: the Fête du Terroir country fair on the second Sunday in August when the whole village goes back in time 100 years during a colourful and lively day-long festival.

In the area surrounding Saint-Bonnet-en-Champsaur, sports fans will find numerous activities to keep them occupied, like rambling, skiing, river sports, climbing, horse-riding and paragliding.

Saint-Bonnet en Champsaur, historic capital of the Champsaur valley, located in the Hautes-Alpes department, is one of the few medieval towns in the French Alps. Located on the Route Napoléon, on the border between Dauphiné and Provence and adjoining the Ecrins National Park, Saint-Bonnet en Champsaur bears witness to a prestigious past and has fervently preserved its cultural heritage for centuries. Discover the medieval village, with its alleys, its fountains, its market, as well as its church which hosts concerts.

Recently, the municipalities of Saint-Bonnet, Bénévent and Infournas have come together to form the new municipality of Saint-Bonnet en Champsaur.

Things to see and do

The medieval town of Saint-Bonnet is made up of alleys, alleys, andrônes and squares. To discover it in a fun way, a treasure hunt for children has been set up by the Tourist Office. An adult version of this treasure hunt allows you to visit Saint-Bonnet with your family and thus discover the birthplace of the last Constable of France: the Duke of Lesdiguières.
