Located in the heart of Queyras Regional Nature Park in the village of Château-Ville-Vieille, Château Queyras fortress dominates a remarkable natural site: the medieval building overhangs a wild and narrow Guil gorge from the top of a rocky spur. The castle was built in the Middle Ages to protect the valley and its inhabitants from barbaric invasions and altered by Vauban at the end of the 17th century to improve its resistance to attacks.
