Situated at the confluence of the Vienne and Goire rivers, the medieval town of Confolens offers a particularly harmonious group of buildings with its fortified Vieux bridge dating from the 13th century, its beautiful houses sitting along the River Vienne, and its Saint-Maxime church with a Gothic bell tower.

Located northeast of the Charente, at the confluence of the Vienne and Goire, Confolens, with its keep, Romanesque churches, the remains of fortifications, demonstrates the role it had in the Middle Ages.
