Dominated by a 13th-century castle fort, the Chouvigny Gorges road in the Combrailles, at the heart of the Sioule gorges between Menat and Ébreuil, offers motorists, bikers and cyclists a series of beautiful landscapes, both wild and verdant, dotted with high cliffs. To discover this listed natural site from a different angle, you can't beat a trip down the Sioule in a canoe-kayak, departing from the Menat Bridge!
Open to the public from May to late September, Chouvigny Castle is perched on a rocky spur and offers a superb view of the gorges from its terraces. Attractions to see on a tour include the formal reception room, the arms room, the treasure tower and the watchtower.
