Founded in 1137 by King Louis VI the Fat, the Royal Abbey of Chaalis in Oise is an old Cistercian abbey from the 12th century, located in Fontaine-Chaalis. Come and discover the ruins of the 13th-century abbey church as well as the Chapel of St. Mary decorated with 16th-century frescoes.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the abbey was the residence of the Jacquemart-André family, who were fervent art-lovers. In the abbey palace, you will find an extensive collection of furniture, paintings, sculptures and objets d'art. In all, there are nearly 6,000 works of art to admire!

The abbey stands at the heart of a huge, tree-lined park, itself in the middle of the forest. This is an ideal setting to combine cultural sightseeing and nature. In addition, flower-lovers will be charmed by the magnificent 3,500 m² rose garden adjoining the abbey. Roses are honoured in the second weekend of June each year with the "Rose Days" flower show.
