La Bourboule is a village in the Puy-de-Dôme in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, some 50 km south-west of Clermont-Ferrand.
Located on an average mountain, at an altitude of 850 meters, the municipality was officially created in 1875 but its territory is already famous for the richness of its waters enriched by the volcanic geology of its subsoil.
A first thermal establishment was founded in 1814, but it was in the second half of the 19th century that the beneficial properties of water (respiratory and skin treatments) attracted a growing clientele for which hotels were built, Leisure activities. The Saint-Joseph church (19th century), built in Romanesque style, built with volcanic materials, and the Grands Thermes, dating from 1872: a dome above the main entrance, and the corners are formed Neo-Byzantine style pavilions and domes.

At the end of February and beginning of March, the Larsenik festival highlights regional music groups.
At the end of May, the Plein la Bobine festival honors cinema intended specifically for young audiences.
