You can park in the parking lot on the left after the intersection.

Itinerary

From the car park, cross the gate and make your way towards a shelter. Just after reaching it, turn left on to the path signposted with a red + which passes through a small arboretum (1) along the forest to a gravel path.

Turn left and follow the red circle and red cross signposting which starts in the forest and then leads across the fields over the Mauverois stream. .

You will arrive at a wayside cross (2) on a tarmac road. Follow the road on the right for 300 m and turn left to enter the forest again along a forest trail signposted with a red circle and a red cross.

About 200 m further on, you will pass close to the Couleuvre Fountain (3). Continue on the dirt track and climb slowly up to a roundabout. Follow the path on the left signposted with a red circle for slightly more than 100 m and turn right on to a dirt track which, slightly further on, follows the fields.

When you arrive near a small house, turn left to join the D51 and cross it and turn left of a farm building along the path signposted with a red circle. This path, which follows the fields and the forest, leads, when keeping to the left, to a small tarmac road in the hamlet of Censes des Lois.

Climb up the road on the left to the Avière Forestry building (4). Opposite it, take the path signposted with a red circle and a red cross and leave a path signposted with a red cross on your right.

After passing next to a pond, slightly further on, you will arrive at a gravel path which you should follow on your left for about 300 m. Turn right on to the path that leads to the source of the Avière (5), nestling at the foot of a valley in the shape of a cirque with a majestic beech forest. Enjoy a short moment in this magnificent setting because you will have to climb up on the left opposite the spring along the winding path signposted with a red circle.

Follow the path and leave it half-way up the slope and turn on to a path on your right and then, further on, a track on your left. Off the trail, the most athletic will be able to take a round trip (red triangle) to the stele commemorating the site where an allied plane crashed during bombing in 1944.

At the top, you will arrive at a forest road. Turn left on to it, cross the road and after 100 m on the left, the circuit leads you back to where you started.
