Itinerary

From Cordelle, take the RD56 and follow signs to Villerest via the dam wall. Immediately after the dam, turn left and continue towards "Saint-Jean-Saint-Maurice". This village is well worth a visit and it offers a panoramic view over the river and the region. In its small church, on a pillar of a stained glass window, you will be able to admire a fresco depicting Saint James on foot, said to be unique in the world. This steep village offers an unusual and magnificent Tourist Office "La Cure", which also houses the rectory, open to visitors, and a gite for pilgrims following the Way of Saint James.

When you leave Saint-Jean-Saint Maurice, take the RD8 towards Bully. Then follow signs to Dancé. On the left, on the way out of Dancé, take a small road indicating "le Pêt d'Âne". There you will find a picnic area and a headland offering a unique view over the Loire valley and beyond.

Return to Dancé and make your way to the first bridge on the D56 towards La Roche Castle. Set in the middle of the water, this castle offers audio tours and, even better, staged theatre tours. Not to be missed!

Return to Cordelle via the RD56.
