Start of the circuit in the village centre at Place du Mail outside the church. An information board (D) indicates the circuit.
Take Rue du Mail, then Rue de la Mairie with the Maison des compagnons (1) on the right. Outside the Town Hall, turn right on to Rue Nationale and continue to Rue de l'Oie Rouge (2). Here, in the reign of Louis XIV, the port of the Oie Rouge could be found, for the trade of linen and hemp produced in the region and transported to rope factories and mills to make sails. Turn right on to Quai de Loire. At the bridge over the Loire (3), a plaque commemorates the fighting between the Saumur cadets and the Germans in 1940. Continue along the quayside for 200 m, to the junction with Rue Nationale, where there is a very beautiful view over the Loire (4). Return to Rue Nationale. There used to be an oil mill in Impasse Antoinette (5). At the traffic lights, look at the statue of Jeanne de Laval (6). Turn left to return to the church (7).
