Start from Place du Gravier where you will find an information board.
After Place du Gravier, you will discover the old castle, a former possession of the Montbéliard Princes, the Lords of Clerval. You will then arrive at Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, facing a remarkable courtyard near the half-timbered house.
Along Rue de la Porte de Chaux, you will see a fountain-drinking trough dating from 1773, the church (1765), and the cemetery's neo-Gothic chapel.
On the way to Chaux-lès-Clerval, take the path on the left to Reposoir Chapel. This is the old road to Basel, which was used up until the end of the 19th century. Bourbaki's army, in retreat in January 1871, blew up a section of this road to delay the Prussians. It is still possible to see the narrow section of this road caused by this event.
The path veers left and crosses a hillside, the former vineyard of Clerval et Chaux.
The highest point, 521 m, is reached after passing through a pleasant area of wood. The view over Clerval and the valley is quite exceptional.
The walk ends on the northern slope of the forest and arrives at the RN 83, 200 m from the starting point. On the left, on the embankment, an 18th century stone cross used to mark the town's boundary on the large path to Rang.
