This marked circuit will take you through three types of landscape: the plains of Champagne, the Côte des Blancs vineyard and the forest.

From Voipreux to Vertus via Bergères-les-Vertus, enjoy many panoramic views as well as the natural and historical heritage: Mont-Aimé in Champagne, the Falloises climbing site and the historic town of Vertus.

Access

The circuit departs from Boulevard Paul Goerg in Vertus.

Itinerary

1. Head towards Voipreux - Avenue du Général Leclerc. You will pass by several Champagne houses. After the railway, take the first turn on the right, "Chemin des Sept Moulins".

2. Continuing towards Voipreux, you will see the Neptune Pool on your left. You will also pass through fields of crops, particularly asparagus.

3. Arrive in Voipreux. At the bus stop, turn right and continue to the bridge over the Berle. Just after the bridge, turn right along the Berle. On your right you will see beehives.

4. Continue straight ahead. On your right you will see several ponds. You can take a walk around and enjoy this peaceful spot. Take the opportunity to have a picnic!

5. Head South-West towards Bergères-les-Vertus. You will see Vertus on your right. Other option: head back to Vertus.

6. You arrive on the RD 36. Cross the road and head towards Bergères-les-Vertus opposite. For your safety, please mind the traffic. Other option: head back to Vertus.

7. Head towards Bergères-les-Vertus. On the way, you can admire the vineyard, rapeseed fields and the municipality of Vertus.

8. Arrive at Bergères-les-Vertus. Turn right before entering the village and continue to the RD9. Cross the road and continue opposite. For your safety, please mind the traffic.

9. You enter among the vineyard paths. Pass the railway continue to go up towards the woods.

10. Cross the vineyard paths. You have a chance to enjoy the views of Bergères-les-Vertus and Mont-Aimé (on your left) and Vertus (on your right). Caution: the path uphill can be difficult in wet weather. Other option: head back to Vertus.

11. At the top, you will be greeted by a view of the Côte des Blancs vineyard. Continuing on your way, you will enter the Falloises climbing site (to the left of the path). After taking a look at the climbing walls, do a U-turn to carry on along the path.

12. You will arrive at Vertus Nature Reserve (Natura 2000 zone). To the left of your path, enter the woods. You will then see a cave where bats live. Going up to the right, you will come across a second cave. At the top, turn right and continue straight ahead, walking along the Vertus sports trail.

13. Continue on this path and turn right to go downhill. On the way down, you walk alongside a plot of land called the Clos des Bouveries, where there is an orientation table.

14. At the bottom of the hill, you reach Vertus via Boulevard Eustache Deschamps. Go down the steps and continue straight ahead to St. Martin’s Church and its well. Turn right and head for the town centre and its shops to return to Boulevard Paul Goerg.

15. Return to the Boulevard Paul Goerg.
