The Voyage à Nantes is an original event where visitors can explore the city on an urban trail dotted with works of art. All summer long, contemporary artworks which already exist or are created for the occasion are scattered around various places in the city. Reflecting the world of travel and poetry, they create a surprise on the historic side streets, town squares or unexpected spots.
Consisting of thirty or so stages, the route starts at a unique place (the former LU factory) by the Canal Saint-Félix, and continues through various places like the abolition of slavery memorial, the Chantiers Park where the Sea Worlds Carousel (Carrousel des mondes marins) and the Great Elephant (Grand éléphant) are on display, the castle of the Dukes of Brittany and the medieval quarter of Bouffray. A green line is traced on the ground to indicate the itinerary to visitors. Most sites on the trail are free entry.
There is also a road trail dotted with sightseeing and Muscadet tasting sites in the Nantais vineyard between Nantes and Clisson.
