Events around Vire Normandie

Every Friday morning, the market drives the city.

At Ascension Rogation Fair. Carousel, fair and flea market invade the city and give a festive air. The festivities end with a magnificent fireworks display.

In July: Festival Virevolte. Between circus, theater and music but also dance or any other form of artistic expression. These shows are free and last 15 days in July.

In October: Andouille is honored and has its own fair. At nightfall, a device for highlighting the main historic buildings unveils heritage for residents and tourists.

• Come along this Sunday for the tree festival. Meet at 10 a.m. on the Place du Château in Vire for registration. • The show is the result of a bilingual writing process initiated by Chilean director Paula Gonzalez Seguel and artist Violeta Gal-Rodriguez, who, in this autofiction, questions her tug-of-war between France and Chile, which was plunged into the Pinochet dictatorship at the time. - The story of a second-generation political exile, auscultation of the traces left in the body by oppression, La Mémoire bafouée moves back and forth between personal and historical memory, not hesitating to use the "we" to achieve a form of universality and questioning. This testimony, which questions a dual identity, Chilean culture and love for a country in social upheaval, is at the crossroads of languages and artistic languages, theater, video and music, with the presence on stage of an electro-cello musician.

• This show is a story : that of author Leïla Anis, who is fifteen and a half years old when she leaves her native East Africa to land in a small town in France, as a first-year student. She's confronted with the way others look at her. Is she an immigrant, she is often asked. As far as she's concerned, she's just passing through France. Nothing could be further from the truth, but in order to survive, she likes to believe that she's just a tourist and that she'll soon be going home. - On a stage that director Justine Bachelet has imagined as a place of memory and reconstruction, Leïla Anis lets her voice be heard, along with those of her mother, father, sister and younger brother, and all the voices of those who walk the paths of exile. She seeks to give meaning to the journey of memories and the way they travel within us, so that, at last, she can live her new life to the full.
