- To mark the publication of La Loire portant bateaux. Le défi de la navigabilité XVIIIe-XXe s, Yves Lecœur will talk about the efforts made by the people of the Loire to ensure navigability from Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert to the estuary. Boatmen, merchants, engineers and staff from the Ponts et Chaussées department all contributed to making the Loire a more human river, far from the image of the "wild Loire". These efforts to develop and maintain the river have been put at the service of a marine industry adapted to the constraints of the river and trade flows from the local to the international level.

- One exhibition, one day each month, thirty minutes, one story ! - Every month this year, the Musée de la Loire will be offering a new activity, which will invariably begin like a tale with "Once upon a time…". - This month, "Once upon a time… the siege of Sancerre" in front of this engraving by Niverd dating from the end of the 16th century illustrating the turmoil of the Wars of Religion in the region : Figure of the town and castle of Sancerre reduced to the obedience of the king at the end of August 1573. - Between 7 February and 24 August 1573,6, 000 cannonballs fell on the town of Sancerre. At the time, France had been torn apart for several decades by the Wars of Religion between Catholics and Protestants. The Huguenots of Berry were being hunted down and persecuted, and some of them took refuge in Sancerre, a town that had traditionally embraced the Reformed faith. On the orders of the king, the governor of Berry, Claude de la Châtre, laid siege to the town with more than 7,000 men and 18 artillery pieces. On its rocky outcrop, with a castle and ramparts, Sancerre was impregnable, forcing Claude de la Châtre to begin a siege that lasted 7 months. What was the outcome of this deadly conflict ? - The museum invites you to take a short cultural and historical lunch break, before or after your lunch, come and enjoy a little art to whet your appetite or digest !

- As part of the Fête de la nature, organised by the town of Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire in partnership with the Ligue de Protection des Oiseaux. - Birds, butterflies, snakes, fish, game… Man lives surrounded by animals on a daily basis, even in the city. There are also bats, owls, which are more discreet because they come out at the same time as we go into our homes ! So there they are, right in front of our eyes and within earshot ; we live together, in other words we share the same space, sometimes without even noticing - an ecosystem, in short. - On closer inspection, they can also be found swarming around museum collections… If you look closely, you'll find them here and there on all sorts of objects, giving you the opportunity to make a Prévert inventory : A candlestick, a cello windchest, a cufflink, a baluster vase, a plate, a bearded dish, a perfume burner, a pewter dish, an engraving, a painting… Now put your ear to the ground and hear them chirping, whispering, clattering, crackling, screeching, hooting, whistling, growling, bellowing or wailing. Can you recognise them ? This cacophony could turn our storerooms and halls, normally calm and hushed, into veritable menageries ! - Let's face it, you could be in for some surprises, and the pleasure won't just be for your eyes, for once it's not usual at the museum !

- Laurent Dehors and François Thuillier have been working together for 25 years in a variety of bands, and they were keen to get together on a common repertoire. The virtuosity and personalities of these two exceptional musicians will give the members of the Big Doo-Doo Band a great deal of openness, and by confronting an unusual repertoire, they will emerge nourished by new energy. Having had the pleasure of playing in an orchestra in his youth, Laurent Dehors knows how to bring out the best in the different sections and give the musicians the chance to blossom around a composition that is both demanding and jubilant, ranging from solo to 'explosive' tutti.

- Nature certainly has unsuspected resources ! While it undoubtedly provides artists with an inexhaustible source of inspiration through its picturesque qualities (literally "paintable"), it also provides the material and tools for expression. Don't paper and canvas come from wood and linen ? Aren't pigments derived from natural elements such as plants and minerals ? And what about oils, gums or lacquers ? With this in mind, the Musée de la Loire and the Environmental Education Department invite you to go back to the origins of art and get closer to nature. - The Musée de la Loire will show you how paper, colours and watercolours are made, while the Environmental Education Department will invite you to draw on nature itself for the materials you need to create your own art. During a walk along the water's edge, you'll be introduced to the magic of dye plants, where broom, Saint John's wort, chelidoin, willow, maple, alder and lichen will reveal their secrets and provide you with a wide range of vegetable inks. - It's a colourful experience that will take you from the museum to nature, and from nature to artistic creation !
